What is this animies name i forgot?

The base of the shows in the future men and women hate each other. The have machines and fight wars. Till a boy accidently gets on a women pirates ship and they lock him up but eventfully become friends. He drives one the mens robots and they find out they can combine into one. to make a bigger fighting robot. I don't know the robots name but if i did i wouldn't need to ask since. The combined robot spaceship name is the name of the show.
