Why doesn't my 360 racing wheel shudder when shifting or give any feeback in a skid? should it? fine otherwise?

seems to work fine otherwise..but what car doesn't give feedback in an out of control skid with wheels locked in one directing and driving straight into a wall? Or a bump of tug when shifting to a new gear? I don't know if this is proper operation or not! Someone help! Happens with Forza 3, NFS shift, and every other game with full realism settings turned on. No setting changes it in any game. I am used to some type of feedback in a skid or a bump when you shift. Why would it operate fine otherwise? Is it a rumble function and the rumble isn't working? Honestly , I can't tell if the thing rumbles or the wheel just vibrates, but NO resistance in a hard skid into a wall? Thanks ahead for all answers...
